ACTS is part of the European Unions's Fourth Framework Programme of research and development covering the years 1994-1998. Its aim is to ensure the effective application across Europe of the developments in telecommunications. Its work is carried out in the context of trials to encourage a dialogue between developers and users. There are currently 96 consortia carrying out projects in ACTS.
